KITESURF - SPOTS

The best spots in Tarifa for kite surfing, and only legalized spots during
the summer months, are the areas on Valdervaqueroes Beach and Los Lances
Beach.  The beach you kite on depends on the direction of the wind, it is
always important to choose a beach with on shore wind.  It is best to take
advise from your kite instructors as to the beach that has the best wind
conditions. When there is an easterly or "levante" wind it is always best to
kite at Valdevaqueros as this is the only spot with an on shore wind when
the wind blows from the east.

VALDEVAQUEROS                                                                                               

The beach opposite the "Chiringuito" beach bar Valdevaqueros is the best
spot when the Levante/easterly wind blows as it is an on shore wind. It is
the least crowded spot in the summer months and the best spot to enjoy an
easterly wind when it is not blowing too hard.

LOS LANCES

Los Lances Beach starts at the football pitch on the edge of the village and stretches all the way to Dos Mares Hotel.  This is the area where the world kite freestyle and speed championships take place. Many windsurf world records have been broken her, however it is dangerous for kite surfing during Levante/easterly winds as it is off shore.  When the westerly winds blow there are some small waves which is lots of fun for kiters. Most importantly it is safe for beginners with a westerly wind as the on shore wind will bring a fallen kite directly back to the shore.
